CHANGES THAT COULD BE MADE TO MY STUDY PROGRAMME

It is the last post in this course of English.

Until now, in these two years studying dentistry, I have theoretical and practical courses. In this semester "diagnosis" and "simulation" were hard courses (almost all days I slept three or four hours). These courses require a lot of time to study and I think that other courses as for example "Promotion of health" and "Dentistry based on evidence", they used time that could be used to study simulation or diagnosis. I would take a course, as promotion (I don´t like and bored).

Dentistry is an extensive career, lasts six years, the duration of the career for me is fine, because we will work with different people and we must have all the knowledge and skills to serve patients well. The workload is very hard, we are always under stress, my point of view is that they should reduce a little the academic load. What bothers me is that the teachers are aware of this, but they do nothing. 

The use of technology depends of situation, in first year I practiced with "Simodont", is a 3D simulator, for example simulates the different hardness of tissues of teeth (enamel, dentine and pulp). The university could incorporate the virtual reality, it would be very useful.

The teaching methods for me it is very good. I like the class, group seminars. I would like to incorporate more frequently "Kahoot", it is great app, makes learning friendlier, funny, dinamic, with gives and you can share with other classmates.

PERSONAL OPINIONS

Hi everyone

Today I will give my opinion about different topics (any controversials, others no). Let's go!

"MECHONEO"

This is a traditional activity when you enter at university for first time at a career. Is characterized for ask for money on the street while you are dirty with flour, paint, fish and other smelly products. Over the years, this activity was more violent. For example, in the university of conception, a young man was humiliated, they threw water and other things, being that he did not want to be mechoneado. In my opinion it is good to take this activity, but to be replaced by another that really give a good welcome the strands and does not affect their self-esteem

"RECYCLING"

This topic for me is very important because the planet is being damaged for the human, because we contaminate the ocean, lakes, beach with trash. The industries, cars and smokers pollute daily with CO2 emissions, accumulating and damage the atmosphere and ozone layer. For this, the mall not give plastic bags. Environmental organizations invite environmental activities such as beach cleaning.

"TATOOS"

Tattoos are one of the different artistic expressions. Being this permanently plastered on the skin. I  would like a tattoo, but I don't like a big tattoos or tattoos in uncommonly places such as neck, face or eyes. Currently I still do not decide what and where to tattoo. I would like to have my forearm tattooed, but in the clinic it does not like tattoos very much.

"MARIJUANA"

It is a very controversial topic since there are two point of view: the therapeutic marijuana as for example to treat cancer and other diseases. And there is the recreational marijuana. I believe that they should legalize marijuana but that is's regulated by the state and that people can limit the amount of grams per month as the do in Amsterdam, to avoid trafficking and illegal sale of marijuana.

PETS

Hi everyone

Today, I will talk about of the special family members and currently a lot of people have any pet.

First, I don't have a pet because currently I rent a department and they do not accept pets (yes, I disagree), in La Serena neither having a dog, because I live with my grandmother, she don´t like dogs (she have cats a long time ago). However in a near future I would like two dogs: an Chilean Fox Terrier and English Bulldog.

In this occasion I talk about Simón, the dog of my aunt.

Simón is a Chilean Fox Terrier of two years ago. This breed dating from the late XIX, and it is a mixture of English Fox Terrier with dogs that existed at the arrival of the Spanish.

Simon is a rescued puppy of Los Morros (San Bernardo), a lady through social networks, informed that had him in a temporary home and my aunt adopted to Simón 19 of October of 2016. 

Simon apparently was abandoned from childhood and was abused, because when I just arrived at my aunt's house, I was very afraid of humans and the broom. What my aunt and the woman who took care of Simon did not know, is that he had epilepsy attack and was not in treatment. Now he takes his remedies and does not have attacks so often.

Simón only eat and sleep, he is very fat.

POSTGRADUATE STUDIES

Graduate School of the faculty of dentistry of the university of Chile

Hi everyone.

Do not ask yourself, what will I do after studying my university career? I'm going to work? I'm going to investigate at the university? Will I study another career? Ok, after meditating with yourself this. I'll tell you, there are post-graduate and post-tittle studies. In this ocassion I will talk only post-graduate studies. In the world of postgraduates, in our university there is the magister and the doctorate. For example magister in dentistry sciences, medics sciences, chemistry sciences, sciences of education and MBA. In the doctorate (PhD) is same, except the MBA. In the post-tittles are the diplomats and specializations.

I would like to do a PhD because I can apply for research projects, to create a line of research, I can have a work team or create a laboratory. If I study a magister, I have little scientific independence and I postulate a few projects. If I would like postulate to a PhD, I will like PhD of dentistry sciences or medical sciences.

I would like study in Chile, however I would like in USA. (nothing is impossible). 

The form or system of study I would like is presencial. In the Phd is of complete dedication , for example 11, 22 or 33 hours (depends of how fast you would like finish thesis).

My Future Job

Hellow everyone.

Today, I will talk about my future job. First, as you are know, I will have a job related with dentistry. However, I will like combinate the clinical practice with the teaching and/or researching in the university. Because from the research, the knowledge can be applied to the clinic. For example, I'm an anatomy assitant and it would be interesting to be able to do classes or help in anatomical practices. 

Because of the characteristics of my future work, I will work more in indoor (hospital, clinical, university). However, I dislike work in a small places with a lot of people or where the laboral ambient is bad. 

I imagine myself in a public health center attending to many patients, a little stressed (only a little jajaja) but happy that I do something that I like. I also imagine doing the major or doing anatomy classes at the university.

I will like travel in my job (but not a lot), for example to congresses and other activities with my coworkers.

I will studying any major related wih surgery for example implantology or maxillofacial surgery, but there is still a long time to decide. (I'm still young jajaja)

About my salary, the ideal would be enougth to buy dental supplies, for basic things, travel and other things.

TV Shows / Anime / Movies

Hi classmates.

Today I will talk about my favourite TV serie.

My favourite TV serie is The Walking Dead. It is an American TV serie created and produced by Robert Kirkman and Frank Darabont, based in the comic with the same name. It was released the 31 st October of 2010. This TV serie has nine seasons and its genre is terror TV series and post-apocalyptic fiction. I started the watched in 2014 in the five season.

The series is set in a post-apocalyptic world and stars Rick Grimes, a police officer who wakes up from a coma to find that civilisation has disappeared due to an unexplained phenomenon that causes dead people to stand up and attack to living people, transforming them into "dead walkers". Finding his family, Rick joins a group of survivors becoming their leader. The story tells the experiences of this group, which must face both the dead walkers, as others groups of living people who also struggle to survive and impose their power.

The main character is Rick Grimes, interpreted by Andrew Lincon, is characterised by having leadership, handling with weapons and survival. Daryl Dixon, interpreted by Norman Reedus, he has a bad mood, is tolerated by the group of survivors due to his abilities in hunting animals and not 

being afraid of killing walkers.

THINGS YOU HATE AND LIKE ABOUT UNIVERSITY, CAREER.

Hi everyone

Today, I will talk about some bad experience that I have lived in my career, but also good experiences that motivated. 

Something that i do not like  the university is the casino, is very expensive, you spend a lot of time in line to buy lunch and the other row to pick it up. (last time I waited like 45 minutes and was late for  classes). The casino is dirty for example: it have pigeons, one day I see with other friends a hair ball in the tray. I think the only solution is to change the company in change of the casino.

And other thing that i dislike of the university is the excessive academic load, because it produces stress and finally I do not learn correctly, memorizing them and not relating them to each other. 

My career has helped me to know myself more, to be more tolerant of frustration because there are things that can not have to get angry for doing them wrong, but to support and more forward.

The Best Concert

Hellow classmates

I will talk about the best concert I went. Well, I like listen to music and play music instruments, for example guitar, piano, charango and ukelele. And I was have a music band with mi friends, it was called LSDans.

In fourth senior school, in 29th October in 2016, I went to see Guns N' Roses in National Stadium of Chile. Guns N' Roses is a U.S hard rock band, founded in 1985. It was formed to Axl Rose (main vocalist), Slash (main guitar), Izzy Stradlin (rhythmic guitar), Duff McKagan (basser) and Adler (drummer). Their songs more known are: Sweet Child O' Mine, November rain, Welcome to the Jungle, Paradise City and Knockin' On Heaven's Door.

I went with my cousin and uncle. The atmosphere was very very crazy. All the people sang, jumped, pushed and hitting as animals. Some people threw water and beer. Because of the craziness in the concert I mean people pushing a lot we ended up separated from each other. I met again with them when the concert finished.

I enjoyed it a lot because it was the unique experience to see one of the most important rock bands of history of music, it was exciting to see Slash play the solos of songs with his guitar. My uncle was also excited because he listens to Guns N' Roses since he was young.  

The Travel

Great Sphinx of Giza

Hi everyone

Travel is the best form for know other countries, cultures, traditions, share with local people and live the reality of that country. And better if it is with other person or with your friends.

I would like to visit Egypt, because I am really interested for your culture, architecture of the pyramids (who/why the pyramids were build and if it related with aliens), gods, the mummies, the things that used, how was the dentistry in Egypt and their beautiful landscapes. I would like know the mains places of Egypt, as for example: The Great Temple of Ramses II, The Giza's pyramids, The Sphinx, The Valley of Kings, The Temple of Luxor, The temple of Horus and others places. I would like go to vacations for eat different foods, relaxing, enjoy with other person and other activities. 

I would like to visit Egypt only during vacation's season, however in some parallel future, I might evaluate the possibility of studying or do an internship, everything can happen...
